Community Service is the practice of science, technology and cultural arts directly in society as an institution through scientific methodology as one of the components of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and a noble responsibility in the effort to develop the capacity of the community, to accelerate the growth rate of achieving national development goals.
The COVID 19 pandemic has changed parts of people’s lives globally. Almost all sectors have felt the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, one of which is in the world education system. However, the East Java “Veteran” National Development University has a breakthrough to conduct a Real Work Lecture (KKN) which is held by changing the system that is more vigilant and changing the method recommended by the Indonesian Health Government in the health protocol.
One of the KKN locations which is also the location of Community Service for Environmental Engineering lecturers at the Veteran National Development University of East Java and also includes the role of students in Community Service activities in 2021 which are held in Mojokumpul Village, Kemlagi District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java. The purpose of this village selection was so that the village community would have knowledge about the topic of making compost using the takakura method.
Therefore, this time the Community Service Activity took the theme Community Service through Composting-Based Waste Management Using the Takakura Method by the Environmental Engineering Study Program. This activity was guided by fellow Environmental Engineering students, Ana Mauidatul Khasanah as the host. The event began with a welcome by the Head of Mojokumpul Village, Kemlagi District, Mojokerto Regency, Mr. Jumain and given a welcoming speech by the Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Dr. Ir. Novirina Hendrasarie. MT.
This activity is expected to help residents in processing household waste into compost. Activities run smoothly until the end of the event. This event ended with the handover of mementos in the form of compost-making products and materials from the Environmental Engineering Study Program of the Veterans National Development University of East Java to the Village Head and Village Community of Mojokumpul to be applied in daily life.
